“Thor: Ragnarok’ Will Drastically Change-Up The MCU as We Know It

Thor: Ragnarok, Marvel Studios

We haven’t really gotten many details about Taika Wapiti’s Thor: Ragnarok, except for a few images and a beautiful trailer. The only things known about the plot of the film come directly from the trailer itself. Hela (Cate Blanchett) will destroy Mjolnir and Asgard along with it, Thor will face-off against The Hulk in the Grand Master’s gladiatorial games, and it seems as though Marvel has found its color palette for the Cosmic Universe. Kevin Feige, Marvel’s President, reveals that the events of Ragnarok will set the foundations for Thanos arrival.

In a recent interview with The Toronto Sun, Feige says that Thor: Ragnarok will usher in big changes for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, paving the way for Thanos in Avengers: infinity War:

“I think that we are finding ourselves as we complete Phase 3 and finish this 22-movie narrative that it’s working out that way. We did three Iron Man films, three Captain America films, three Thor films. Things change drastically in Ragnarok and then build directly into Infinity War.”

Fan speculation as to what these changes will be are running rampant. One villain rumored to make an appearance in the film is the villain Surtur. Surtus is a horned demon that rules the fiery realm of Muspelheim. Could this be where Thor is chained up in the beginning of the trailer? A new image released by Funko Pops seem to confirm that this villain will show up in Thor: Ragnarok. You can get a good look at the pop at

A new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows. Just as the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle.  A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones. They are artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment. The fate of the Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain.
