BBC Culture has commissioned a poll of critics to see what the top 100 films of the 21st Century are. With 2016 being a lackluster year for movies, with a few exceptions, it is almost predictable to look into the past. On a list like this, there are many factors that are considered, including pacing, dialog, plot, and directional lens.
This is a really good list, but there is something missing. Before you skip to the end and start shouting foul at the screen and the BBC, there are a number of really big exclusions from this list. Films like Guardians of the Galaxy, The Departed, The Incredibles, Argo, Django Unchained, Edge of Tomorrow, and The Revenant are just a few excluded from the list.
