The second Justice League film was officially delayed yesterday from its 2019 release date. There has been speculation that Warner Brothers Pictures was keen on making room for the stand-alone movie The Batman, and now it seems as though they are making room for it in their release schedule. This is a no-brainer, seeing that Ben Affleck’s version of The Dark Knight is by-far the best thing about the DC Cinematic Universe at the moment.
In a recent interview with The New York Times (via CB.com) Affleck took a moment to talk about The Batman, and how he feels it is imperative to get this film right:
“I am [writing it] that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s going to be good. [laughs] I’m a real believer in not doing, not reverse engineering projects to meet a window or a date, but rather like when you get the right story or you get the right idea or you get the right thing, then you make the movie. And so that’s what we’re doing, and I’m hoping to get that done and spending a lot of time on that, but I’m also working on other stuff. And if I could, if I can find it right then there’s nothing I’d love more than to direct a standalone, you know, iconic great Batman movie. I’m really mindful of that. I’m not in any hurry to jam a mediocre film down the pipe.”
“Part of it was I wanted for once to get one of these movies and do it right – to do a good version. I hate Daredevil so much. It frustrated me. The Netflix show does really cool stuff. I feel like that was there for us to do with that character, and we never kind of got it right. I wanted to do one of those movies and sort of get it right.”
You won’t have to wait long to see Affleck gear up as the Caped Crusader. He will star in Zack Snyder’s Justice League film alongside of Henry Cavill, Ezra Miller, and Gal Gadot.
Justice League hits theaters on November 17th 2017.
