For months, rumors inked out of the woodwork that Charlie Cox could appear in Marvel’s upcoming Spider-Man 3. Cox starred as Matt Murdock/Daredevil in Netflix’s Daredevil series for Marvel Studios.
According to ComicBook.com, 38-year-old Cox was spotted on the set of the production on Spider-Man 3, currently shooting. The report goes on to say that Cox’s already completed his portion of the shoot.
Early rumors about Cox’s return to the MCU came as numerous reports leaked that Spider-Man 3 could see the return of multiple characters from most of the past pre-MCU Spidey films.
Daredevil was the first Marvel series on Netflix. The Netflix series’ never really tied to the greater MCU, beyond random character references. Daredevil did references a few Avengers events.
Two years ago Marvel gave all of the Netflix series the axe. The streaming service held the rights to the characters until just a few months ago. Earlier this week, Kevin Feige spoke with THR about the possible return of the Netflix Marvel characters:
“Everything is on the board. That’s one of the fun things about the comics is that characters would appear and disappear and come and go. All of it is inspiration for the future. There are some great characters and actors from those shows.”
Spider-Man 3 sees the return of Tom Holland, joined by Benedict Cumberbatch, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon.
