Child’s Play is a franchise that thrives on telling Chucky’s story, but what if the focus shifted? It would stray from the expected path in a franchise riddled with sequels.
In an interview with Bloody-Disgusting, director Lars Klevberg revealed an idea for a sequel to his recent reboot of Child’s Play. He states that he has a lot more to say about Buddi Bears.

For me, this was just trying to make this the best movie possible. Like, never foreshadowing any detailed plan of where you want to go as a franchise.
But yeah, for me I think I love the Buddi Bear concept. I love the other stuff, and I think we should spend – if that happens – later on, we should spend more time with those assets.
That was presented a little too short in this movie, what the Buddi Bears are and can be capable of doing. I haven’t said everything I need to say.
Using the Buddi Bears as the focus character for a sequel would definitely be a different formula from the original run. Whether the bears could be villains or not remain to be seen.
Either way, the Child’s Play reboot was a welcomed update from the original, although the franchise lost a little bit of its classic charm in the process. Mark Hamill shined as Chucky, while Chucky looked like bad CGI.
