Pixar and Disney Animation Chief John Lasseter stated that Incredibles 2 will begin right where the first one left off. In a short interview with IGN at D23:
“It starts right as the first one finishes, so it just carries on. It starts with the Underminer and a big old set piece. You know that at the end of the first movie when he comes up and you see the family dressed as superheroes, well that’s where start this movie.”
Incredibles 2 will not revisit the villain from the first film, rather it will show how the family will operate now that they are a ‘super’ family:
“One of the unique things about the Incredibles is it’s really a story of a family set in the world of superheroes. This one carries on that theme. It’s awesome, the idea we came up with — simple as that… We love to really look at our own lives and look at what’s going on, and find themes that we know will resonate with the audience.”
The focus will shift from the male characters in the family, to the female in the sequel. More notably, Elastigirl (Holly Hunter). Her husband will stay at home with Jack Jack, while she is out being a super heroine alone. Most of the cast is set to return, including Samuel L. Jackson as Frozone. A short clip was shown today that shows Jack Jack getting outside of the house, when his dad falls asleep. He faces off against a raccoon and displays a new superpower, multiplication.
