Did ‘Wandavision’ Hint at ‘Doctor Strange 2’ Villain?

** Spoilers for Wandavision below **

Wandavision recently wrapped up on Disney+. Fans finally got to see Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff become the Scarlet Witch. While the series answers some of our questions, it also opened a whole new can of worms.

With still so little known of Dr Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, how will Wandavision connect to it?

I think the biggest clue lies within a certain book used in Wandavision. In episode 7 of Wandavision, a book is glimpsed in Agatha’s dungeon. Fans of Agents of SHIELD and Marvel’s Runaways are no stranger to it.

In the series finale, Agatha confirms it’s the Darkhold.

The Darkhold is a collection of evil works and spells written by Chthon. He is an Elder God with evil intentions. You’re probably wondering how he fits into the rest of it but the answer lies in the source material.

Chthon used chaos magic to rule the Earth but was destroyed by Earth’s mages and sealed within Mount Wundagore.

In the comics, Wanda Maximoff is born in Mount Wundagore. She’s also given a fraction of Chthon’s power by touching his hand. Moreover, we know the MCU’s version of Wanda harnesses chaos magic too.

It appears the MCU’s Scarlet Witch is a powerful Being. Her supposed connection to Chthon makes sense.

Returning to the Darkhold, there’s another interesting thing about it. The book is the basis for another in the Marvel universe. Fans of The Evil Dead are also familiar with the Necronomicon.

It’s the book of the dead and in Marvel lore is only a spin-off of the Darkhold.

Dr Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is currently filming with Sam Raimi at the helm. The man who wrote the most well-known version of the Necronomicon might end up being the one to use Marvel’s version.

If these connections are right, it looks like Chthon could be part of the Dr Strange sequel. Of course, that begs the question of how Mordo fits in. The last we saw him, he was ridding the world of sorcerers. If Avengers: Endgame is anything to go by, he has a long road ahead of him.

His attention may turn to Wanda since she’s the most powerful Being on Earth. If true, it seems Dr Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has a lot of ground to cover, and that’s before reaching into the multiverse and the rumored cameos.
