It’s no surprise that Jared Leto was dismal as the Joker in Suicide Squad. From the first image revealed of he character, you could sense that this wasn’t going to go well. When the film hit theaters, Leto took every opportunity he could to trash the film, saying that you could almost make an entire Joker movie out of the scenes he filmed for Suicide Squad. You can check out one of these articles here. Here is a short quote he made, about the scenes that were cut:
“I think that I brought so much to the table in every scene, it was probably more about filtering all of the insanity. Because I wanted to give a lot of options, and I think there’s probably enough footage in this film for a Joker movie… If I were to die tomorrow, maybe the studio would roll something out. Rated R or rated X performance in there somewhere.”
It was hard not to see that Leto was pissed that he was practically cut from the entire film. One eager fan has tried to piece together all the Jared Leto Joker clips, sifting through behind-the-scenes videos, extras, and trailers to find it all. Thanks to YouTuber RedDawnHanger77, we have a great video that showcases all the footage that we have glimpsed so far, and gives a short synopsis of every scene. This may not be all the footage that Jared Leto filmed as the Joker for Suicide Squad, but it might be the closest thing we will get. Check out the video below:

There was more Joker footage included in the Blu-ray release of Suicide Squad, but I doubt we will ever get to see all of it. I am still not convinced Leto’s Joker was good in the slightest, but he was right about the plethora of footage he shot that was cut.
There really hasn’t been a reason given for cutting Leto from most of the film, but I am sure it had to do with his performance. It had no depth, and it was hardly convincing. At times, he echoed Heath Ledger’s portrayal as the villain, and never seemed to have his own groove. You could cite many reasons about why this is, but Leto really missed the mark as the Joker. Even if you ignore the tacky tattoos, and over saturated colors in his wardrobe, it still just doesn’t fit. He tried too hard to make everyone believe that this iteration of the Joker was going to be something special. At the end of the day, it just sucked.
This doesn’t mean that one day I would like to glimpse all the footage. But even after seeing this fan video, I still think he was not good as the Joker. DC would be wise to reconsider this iconic villains’ appearance and portrayal in the DC Cinematic Universe going forward.

Nah, he was really good as Joker, better than Ledger for me, though i like all the Jokers in live action films.
