Official Trailer for the ‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot Is Here and it’s Brilliant!

The new Ghostbusters reboot 1st official trailer has hit the internet today, and it looks great. I was one of the skeptics at first, but I think that all of my fears have officially been squashed. This is not a reboot at all, it is technically a sequel, and the trailer throws enough nostalgia into itself to appease any super fan.

Speculation about the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot has been swirling around the internet since the film was first announced, and it was mostly met with hostility. Fans wanted to see the original cast suit back up to relive their glory days vanquishing ghosts and poltergeist. When news hit that Dan Aykroyd would be returning to the series, fans were wanting to hear news that Rick Moranis and Bill Murray would soon follow. They were met with disappointment when news came that the cast would be replaced with an all-female cast.

I had my apprehensions as well. I feared that this film would mock the classic Ghostbusters films and not celebrate their genius. I didn’t want the story to be twisted in any way. I couldn’t have been more wrong about this film. It appears that most of the news surrounding the film was a bit wrong. You just need to see the trailer, and then we can talk more afterwards.

There are some moments where the humor in the film is a bit over-the-top, but it works for me. The classic films’ comedy did feel a bit more natural, but this trailer feels close enough to home to get my approval. I think that the film makers took a play from Jurassic World for this sequel, which follows the formula from the first Ghostbusters film to a “T”. You can essentially see the characters from the old films, revised int he characters in these films, right down to their mannerisms and appearance.

It is haunting to see, but this trailer impresses the hell out of me. On Wednesday, Paul Feig told Ghostbusters super fans at the premier of the trailer, “I’d be bummed if I didn’t see the Ecto-1 and all that stuff,” he said. “So we wanted to make sure we give those nods—but make them our own, and give them their own original origin story. When you see the movie, there will be a lot of things you’re happy to see, but they’re coming at you at a slightly different way.”
