Actress Alexis Bledel quickly found out what was on everyone’s mind during a presser for her new Hulu show The Handmaid’s Tale. The actress, who came to prominence as Rory Gilmore in the much beloved WB show, The Gilmore Girls, was appearing on a panel at the Television Critics Association winter press tour to discuss her new TV series. However, the recent dip into the past by Bledel, Lauren Graham, who portrays her mother on the show, and creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, who brought forth a welcomed set of new episodes, has many fans clamoring for more.
More Rory?
Bledel did not close any doors with regard to future Gilmore Girls episodes, but was resolutely non-committal to any further exploration of her character. In an article appearing in the Hollywood Reporter online, Bledel stressed that the revival was due to the stars aligning perfectly.
“We want to tell a great story. “[A Year in the Life] came together so naturally in a way. We had the fan reunion in Autin and we picked up momentum from there and it came together so quickly and it really seemed like the right thing. I think most of us are just wanting to tell a good story and I think that came together in A Year in the Life. The only thing I can say about a future installment of the show is it would be about the story and certainly the timing.”
The Netflix Tweet
Bledel stressed, however, that nothing was in development or even being considered. Though a tantalizing tweet from streaming giant, Netflix, threw fuel on the fire that the Gilmores would be gracing us with another season. Netflix played a key part in the recent Gilmore revival. Throwing fans a curious bone as to the identity of Luke’s daughter April’s biological father, Netflix dropped the hint that it might be one of Rory’s exes.
The tweet asked, “Where’s an eighth grade science fair when you need one? #GilmoreGirls.” Sherman-Palladino, the one responsible for the quick rapid fire dialogue that has endeared the series to fans, also was quick to make clear that nothing was being planned. When asked by TVLine about more Gilmore Girls, Sherman-Palladino noted – “No one is talking about that right now. I have this pilot for Amazon to finish which I am very proud of.”
Fans of the Gilmore Girls will just have to hope that Sherman-Palladino can capture some of that Gilmore magic with her new series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
