“I used to think that my life was a tragedy but now I realise it’s a comedy.”
Arthur Fleck (JOKER)
The first trailer for the Todd Phillips’ Directed JOKER lands and it looks to be something different than what’s come before.
Take a look at the first trailer below:
JOKER tells the story of the descent of comedian Arthur Fleck and how he becomes the villain known as The Joker.
Joaquin Phoenix plays the title role. From the trailer it looks like Phoenix will bring another successful portrayal to the screen.
It also stars Robert De Niro, Zazie Beets, Frances Conroy, and Brett Cullen. The latter will portray Thomas Wayne (Bruce’s father) after Alec Baldwin left the picture due to scheduling conflicts.
By the trailer it looks like De Niro will be an interviewer, reminding some people of his role in The King of Comedy.
As for Beets it’s likely she’s a character Fleck has a crush on while Conroy plays Fleck’s loving mother.
Not only was the trailer released but there is also a poster to go with it:
JOKER looks to be something different, and it will be a refreshing change of pace. Judging by the trailer it takes cues from the infamous The Killing Joke.
It’s certainly looking like one to watch out for!
JOKER will land in theaters October 3.
