If you know anything about the MCU, then you know that Avengers: Infinity War is their crown jewel. It is the big climax of their entire film catalog to date, and will finally introduce us to Thanos. Thanos, played by Josh Brolin, will combat the Avengers on his way to gather up all the infinity stone. The infinity Stones are magical gems which each have very peculiar abilities. Any being that has control of all the stones controls the entire universe.
There has been a lot of news dropped recently, about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to Marvel Studio’s chief Kevin Feige, Avengers: Infinity War may not happen as you expect it to be. Marvel has a few surprises in store for fans and newcomers alike. In a recent interview with Slashfilm, Feige says that Infinity War will be a lot different from fans might expect. It will not play out exactly as it had in the comics:
“I think those with knowledge of the comics may expect things that will not be happening in the movies. Those who don’t know what has happened in the comics will be shocked at what we do. But yeah, once that Gauntlet is on, as the poster of Doctor Strange says, ‘the impossibilities are endless.’ How do you fight that? How can you defeat that? So we play into all of that. We play into all that stuff. I don’t know that we’ll get into Earth 1 thru 616 in any one moment anytime soon.”
What does this mean exactly? Does this mean that the Avengers will stand more of a chance against Thanos even though he controls the Infinity gauntlet? Whats the point of uniting the stones, if they do not make you all-powerful. According to Feige, Thanos will not be god-like.
He goes on to say that although it has been shelved for the moment, that an Inhumans film “happen for sure”. He just doesn’t know when that will play out. Infinity War directors, Joe and Anthony Russo have just begun scouting locations for the films, as the film is in its earliest stages.
Avengers: Infinity War will smash its way into theaters on May 4, 2018.
