Ever since Disney Studios announced that they will have their own streaming service, the big question is what would it have on it? Disney has plenty of properties under its umbrella with Marvel and Star Wars onboard.

So, Will Disney+ get any future Star Wars films? According to Disney Studios chief Bob Iger, that would be a “no”. In an in-depth interview with Barrons, Iger discusses Disney’s plans for the streaming service and other Mickey related plans of the future.

According to Iger, Disney has no plans to release big blockbuster films on its streaming service, unlike the other streaming giant, Netflix. Disney+ will host only low to mid-budget content, with all of the blockbusters saved for the theaters:

“Almost every movie the studio makes is a $100 million-plus movie, and we’re not looking to make movies at that level for the service. We’re looking to invest significantly in television series on a per-episode business, and we’re looking to make movies that are higher-budget, but nothing like that.

We wouldn’t make a Star Wars movie for this platform. When everybody goes out on the weekend and you have a movie that opens up to $200 million, there’s a buzz that creates that enhances value. We like that. And eventually, the movies we’re making are going to [end up on] the service.”

Two films planned for Disney+ are the Anna Kendrick-led Noelle, and the live-action Lady and the Tramp (with real dogs). The only Star Wars project planned for the service at the moment is Jon Favreau’s series The Mandalorian.
