Out doing press for his latest film, Dunkirk, director Christopher Nolan announced the news that he is currently working on converting his Dark Knight trilogy to 4K resolution. This will ensure that fans of the trilogy will still get to enjoy the films on the best resolution available today.
In a recent interview with BadTaste.it, Nolan says that he is involved with he process of remastering the Dark Knight trilogy into $k (with HDR) format. He goes on to say that he is happy that the remasters are closer to 6K resolution of regular 35mm film, and 18K resolution of IMAX film.
This is great news, as the first film in the trilogy, Batman Begins, was one of the first films to transition to Blu-ray in 2006, and subsequently was also the first film to release its trailers in 1080p HD format in 2004. There is still no release date for the 4K version of the trilogy, but with the announcement, you can bet one will come shortly.
Dunkirk hits theaters on July 20. There is no release date set for the Dark Knight 4K remasters.
