The second teaser trailer for Captain America: Civil War dropped moments ago, and it is full of great moments. There is more to this movie than we previously thought. The first thing that hits you about this film, is that the stakes are real for this film. The fallout from the Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron is set. The destruction caused by our team of heroes feels real. This movie will be all about how superheroes deal with what is happening, and how they will each deal with the ramifications of their actions. If that isn’t enough, Spider-Man will be swinging in to assist the MCU.
I really like how this idea runs with the concepts set in the Civil War comic run. It takes the ideals and sets them firmly in today’s world. The rift between these heroes holds a lot of weight. The comic run was really good, but this film looks like they will be making this story even better. I am ecstatic about this film, and it is at the top of my list of movies to see this summer. Lets just get into the trailer, and we can talk more after the break.
The best moment from the trailer (besides the Spider-Man reveal) is Ant-Man on Hawkeye’s arrow! It was epic, and the way that Ant-Man moves across Iron Man’s armor is great. Chadwick Boseman, T’Challa, crying in the rubble of what looks like a UN building bombing is sad, and it seems like we might see the death of his father, T’Chaka, in this movie. This is the inciting moment that will get the Black Panther involved in this conflict.
I have danced around it enough, but Spider-Man looks great in this trailer! First, we hear Tony Stark refer to him as Underoos. I couldn’t stop laughing about that. I really like how Spider-Man breaks the fourth wall, telling everyone watching the trailer, “hello everybody”.
Lets take a moment and focus on the suit. Marvel’s Spider-Man suit takes us back to the early days of Spider-Man. The colors are great, the spider logo is small, and if you stop the trailer, you will see that he has a belt with extra web cartridges on it. He looks really good. The black stripes fit well with the blue and the reds. Lets talk about the eyes for a minute. One of my favorite things about this suit is that the eyes change. They start off being reminiscent of John Romita Sr. styled eyes, but then they get smaller, and look just like Steve Ditko eyes! I love this.
The expressive eyes are fantastic, and this will be the first time that fans will see this aspect of comic Spider-Man on the big screen. These eyes are just like the eyes that we saw on Deadpool, but we all know that Deadpool artist took this idea from the Spider-Man comics.
This movie will be raising the stakes for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I think that the trailer sets the tone for the future of the MCU. The future looks really dark, and those of us that know the directions that is headed will be great. I think that great things are coming.
Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6.

I’m not too hot on the spidey suit. The face looks too cartoonish in comparison to the other characters.
