‘The Suicide Squad’: James Gunn’s Hilarious 3rd Trailer

Warner Brothers Pictures drops a brand new trailer for James Gunn’s first endeavor into the DCEU, The Suicide Squad. The trailer hit rather oddly, first as a YouTube ad that would randomly play for users, and then finally dropping on the Warner Bros. website.

This new half-reboot/ half-sequel strays to the opposite end of the spectrum from its David Ayer-directed predecessor. (In Ayer’s defense, we never really got to see his version… #SavetheAyerCut).

The new film ditches Will Smith’s Deadshot for an equally deadly Superman villain, Bloodsport. Bloodsport (Idris Elba) takes center-stage in the new film. Amanda Waller is up to her old tricks again, manipulating villains to do her bidding and join her own superteam.

The only difference is that this time Waller has…good intentions? Can you say impending plot twist? The new team consists of returning SS veterans Rick Flagg, Harley Quinn and Captain Boomerang.

Joining the team this time around is King Shark, Savant, Ratcatcher 2, Peacemaker, Blackguard, Javelin, and the ever-intimidating Abner Krill a.k.a. Polka-Dot Man!

The secret mission (this time around) is a search-and-eradicate-mission to rid the world of any mention of Project Starfish. The trailer shows off the first glimpses of the film’s big-bad Starro!!!

For those of you DC superfans out there, Star first debuted as a Justice League of America villain. He’s actually the reason why the JL first formed.

The Suicide Squad stars Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Margot Robbie, John Cena, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, Peter Capaldi, Nathan Fillion, Taika Waititi, Michael Rooker, Sean Gunn, Alice Braga, David Dastmalchian, Pete Davidson, Joaquín Cosío, Maylin Ng, Flula Borg, Juan Deigo Botto, Storm Reid, Jennifer Holland, Tinashe Kajese, Daniela Melchior, Steve Agee and Julio Ruiz.
