‘Joker’: DC Villains That Deserve a Solo Elseworlds Film

Last year DC had a huge success on their hands with Joker. Not only did the film gross over $1 billion, but it also cleaned-house during awards season. Joaquin Phoenix picked up several Best Leading Actor awards while Hildur Guðnadóttir followed suit with the Original Score.

Joker’s a critical success as well. Rumors suggest Warner Brothers might look at expanding their Elseworld stories. These are the stories that focus on a specific character while putting a new spin on them.

In the comics, there’s Superman: Red Son, The Dark Knight Returns and Bombshells.

If the studio wants to follow the formula again, there’s no shortage of characters they can use. This is especially true for Batman villains as many of his rogue’s gallery has empathetic origins. Surprisingly, the Joker wasn’t one of those until The Killing Joke came around.

Still, Warner Brothers are sitting on a goldmine and they would be crazy not to try and repeat Joker’s success. Here are five DC villains who could receive the Joker treatment and why it should be them.
