2nd Trailer for ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Shows it’s the Buddy Film Fans Always Wanted

Thor: Ragnarok, Marvel Studios

The second trailer for Thor: Ragnarok hit this past weekend during the San Diego Comic-Con, and it truly looks to be a great film. It is a step in the right direction for the Thor franchise which has had trouble building great box office numbers in the past. This film looks more in line with Guardians of the Galaxy, but is a welcomed sight and addition to the Marvel cosmic universe.

Check out the second trailer for the film below:

Director Taika Waititi looks to have a home-run on his hands. According to Mark Ruffalo, Bruce Banner has been in Hulk form for the last two years, and this will be the first film to give the big green hero legitimate lines. The trailer also gives us the first glimpse of Surtur.

Imprisoned on the other side of the universe, the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth) finds himself in a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), his former ally and fellow Avenger. Thor’s quest for survival leads him in a race against time to prevent the all-powerful Hela (Cate Blanchett) from destroying his home world and the Asgardian civilization.

The best thing about this trailer is the Thor and Hulk interactions. The dialog between the two is a welcomed sight, and you can tell that Thor truly misses his fellow Avenger. Thor: Ragnarok is not taking itself as seriously as the previous films in the series. This looks like a good thing. The color palette is brighter and more saturated, which just adds to the new appearance of the cosmic universe that Marvel is building.

It is rumored that Ragnarok will reveal the last Infinity Stone. A recent internet rumor believes that this gem is located with Heimdall. Could Thanos make an appearance in addition to Hela? Set images show Heimdall on the run, and also with white eyes, which contrasts his usual orange-tinted eyes. Does this mean that the soul gem has been taken from him? With Thanos on his big quest to fill his Infinity Gauntlet, it is quite possible the Angry Titan could make an appearance.
