The Curse of La Llorona stars Linda Cardellini and was Directed by Michael Chaves. The movie centers around a social worker who encounters a woman hiding her children in a closet.

From there, a series of unfortunate accidents and unexplained actions lead the worker into the crosshairs of a powerful spirit. The spirit is the La Llorona, a woman who killed her own children in a fit of rage many many years ago.

Leading up to its release, the movie was announced as the next entry in The Conjuring universe. Unfortunately, I had yet to watch this by the time I made the rankings so it will be updated in the future to reflect its place.

During its release, the movie saw largely negative reviews due to its obsession with jump scares. However, there are good points critics didn’t consider.

There is little to fault when it comes to the acting, especially from the leads. Roman Christou and Jaynee-Lynne Kinchen play the children of Linda’s Anna Tate-Garcia.

The chemistry between the three saves the movie. This is especially seen in a haunting scene where Anna’s job is turned on her and she faces a similar inspection to what she carries out at the beginning of the movie.

While The Curse of La Llorona isn’t the greatest movie ever made, it certainly isn’t the worst and works well for being a movie focusing on the scares.

The next movies I’m watching are The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2 but they are already in the Top 6 article, therefore my next review on here will be…

THE AMITYVILLE HORROR
