In a recent Instagram post, actor Jason Momoa reveals that the long-awaited reboot of The Crow has fallen to pieces again. It is almost as if the spirit of Brandon Lee doesn’t want this reboot to be made.

Momoa posted an image of himself and recently attached director Corin Hardy. The film reportedly ran into financial issues between the producer (Samuel Hadida) and Sony Pictures. Sony set a release date of October 11, 2019, for the film earlier this year.

According to Momoa:

“I’ve waited eight years to play this dream role. I love you @corinhardy and @sonypictures unfortunately I may have to wait 8 more. Not our team,” he wrote. “But I swear I will. James O’Barr sorry to let you down I won’t on the next. This film needs to be set free. And to the fans. Sorry. I can’t play anything but what this film deserves and it needs love. I’m ready when it’s right.”

The Crow is based on James O’Barr’s comic, that follows a man brought back from the dead to avenge his girlfriend and his murders. He goes after each person responsible for their savage attack, leading him through a deep shady underworld. The Crow was adapted in 1994 by director Alex Proyas, and because a massive cult hit. It starred Brandon Lee, son of famous martial artist and celebrity Bruce Lee.

The film gained notoriety before its release when Brandon Lee died on set after being shot by a mishandled prop gun. The gun was supposed to contain a blank, but when fired a projectile entered Lee’s body. His loss was tragic and sent ripples throughout Hollywood.
