The time finally has come. Microsoft announced that Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Reach will debut on PC via the Microsoft Store and Steam.
This is a special version designed exclusively for the PC audience. Both the campaign and multiplayer play options are available at launch.
According to an official statement from Microsoft:
“The most important and critical element of this project is ensuring that Halo: The Master Chief Collection delivers a true ‘first class’ experience on PC. The team is passionately committed to ensuring that all of the features, bells, and whistles expected in a modern PC title are included.”
The company made the announcements during its Inside Xboxvideo stream.
This is an interesting release, as the game will not be completely available at launch, and rather will release in stages. The games are set to launch one at a time, so that the team at 343 Industries can make sure that everything is operating properly.
This allows the game to avoid the problems that troubled the Xbox One version in 2014.
Reach launches on both the Xbox One and PC in 4K/HDR and 60fps. It includes its multiplayer, Forge, and Theater modes. Campaign and Firefight components are available as add-ons for an additional price.
The titles launching on PC are Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2, Halo 3, ODST, and Halo 4. Although H5: Guardians isn’t included with this press release, but rumors say that it’s on the horizon.
Halo, one of the most-popular gaming franchises of all-time, sold more than 65 million units and grossed over $3 billion in sales to date.
