Everybody is picking apart every Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailer looking for hints at what characters will make appearances in the film. In the latest trailer we finally saw Ego the Living Planet (Kurt Russell), along with Mantis and Nebula who have both joined forces with the Guardians. We have yet to know what Ego’s intentions are in the film.
In the first film, a peculiar looking cocoon appeared in the Collectors collection that had some wondering if it was the cocoon of Adam Warlock. If you read the Infinity War comic run, then you know that Adam Warlock plays an integral part in the story. We know that Kevin Feige has previously said that the films will not follow the events exactly as they happened in the comics.
Recent rumors have stated that both of these characters are in the film, following their action figures being part of the Marvel Legends collection. James Gunn released a statement via Facebook that says Adam Warlock and Darkhawk are not in the film just because they are Marvel Legends characters:
I think it was not very well thought out because I’m getting questions about. ‘Is Darkhawk in the movie because of the Marvel Legends figure? Is Adam Warlock in the movie because of the Marvel Legends figures?
All you need to do is look at the packaging, you guys. On the packaging cover, it says ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2‘ on the figures that are from the movie and it doesn’t say Vol. 2 on the other figures. So that should tell you what’s from the movie and what’s not.
They are just figures in the toy line, nothing more. Many outlets are saying that this means the characters will not appear in the film. This statement would not necessarily be true. Gunn never really said they weren’t in the film, and he said that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has his favorite Marvel character in it. This means that both characters might still show up in the film.
Although they can be a bit unreliable, Amazon’s new store for the GOTG Vol. 2 includes a peculiar character name in among the team members: Darkhawk. You can see the original storefront picture below, and it has since been changed and Darkhawk has been removed from the team. This is such a random name to just throw out there. You can almost bet that Darkhawk will be in the film, and I am willing to guess that Adam Warlock is in there somewhere. Check out the original storefront picture below:
As if this wasn’t subtle enough, in the wake of news outlets reporting that Gunn ‘confirmed’ the characters will not appear in the sequel, Gunn clarified via Twitter this was not what he was saying. He actually said he confirmed nothing, and that he was just saying that the Marvel Legends toys will not dictate who will be in the film. Only the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 toy line can do that.
I didn’t confirm anything other than some of the Marvel Legends figures – such as those ones – are not Vol 2 figures. https://t.co/Nku7WofukY

Whether or not the two characters will appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is anyone’s guess now, but Marvel can always use more fantastic characters in the MCU.
Do you think Adam Warlock, Darkhawk, or both characters will appear in the film? Let us know in the comments.
