Disney+ Plans and Everything You Need to Know

Disney is about to hit the streaming world with force. In November of 2019, the Mouse House drops is streaming service, dubbed Disney+, the service costs subscribers $6.99, with an annual membership option set at $69.99.

Disney+ launches on November 12, 2019. The streaming platform is kid-friendly, with no R-rated shows or films allowed.

The lack of R-rated content might have fans of the Netflix/Marvel Universe down. Everyone All Marvel shows on Netflix (Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and The Defenders) got the axe earlier this year. .

Many assumed that the move happened due to Disney+’s looming launch, but it is Netflix that is scaling Disney content back considerably.

So much so, that the House of Mouse loses almost $300 million a year in licensing fees from Netflix beginning in 2019. It is a big loss, but one that Marvel hopes to remedy with their own streaming service.

Other Disney properties leaving Netflix are the Disney animated films, live-action films, MCU content, and all Star Wars movies.

New movies for Marvel, Star Wars, and the Mouse House will launch on Disney+ rather than another streaming platform. Fans can expect Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame, and Star Wars Episode IX to hit the streaming service as well.

The MCU has a number of shows in development when Disney+ goes live. Marvel has a few limited series in the works for the service.

A Loki (Tom Hiddleston) series is coming, along with a series starring Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), and a Scarlet Witch series. Each series runs between six and eight episodes.

There are rumors about a Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) series and a Lady Sif (Jaimie Alexander) series as well.

Today, Marvel Chief Kevin Feige confirmed a “What If” series in the works as well, which will focus on hypothetical situations in the MCU. For example, “What If Wolverine Had Killed the Hulk?

The service will not only be Marvel and Star Wars.The first live-action series is the critically acclaimed gay teen romance Love, Simon. The films’ director Greg Berlanti isn’t attached to the series, although the film’s scribes Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger are.

A television series sequel to the 1993 film The Sandlot is also coming soon. The original film’s director, David Mickey Evans, will write and produce the series set in 1983, 22 years after the events of the first film.

A ten-episode short film series, Forky Asks a Question, featuring Toy Story 4 character Forky is in production. A series titled Lamplight explaining what happened to Bo-Peep in between Toy Story 2 and 3 is also coming to Disney+.

Alan Tudyk reprises his role as K-2SO (Rogue One) in the upcoming Cassian Andor series.
