The first trailer for Shane Black’s The Predator is here, which serves as a direct sequel to the original film. Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Iron Man 3) has a very intimate relationship with the Predator franchise, he had a small role in the original 1987 film, directed by John McTiernan. Check out the first full-length trailer below:
In The Predator, the antagonists are using DNA splicing to upgrade their own species to create the perfect hunters. When an alarm is accidentally triggered by a young boy, who will step up to protect humanity from annihilation?
In Black’s version, the Predators are faster, stronger, and smarter than they ever were in previous films. The trailer underwhelmed a bit and raises concerns as to whether this film will make the cut. It doesn’t feel like a Predator film and has a strong antiseptic feel. Hopefully Paramount releases something better soon.
The Predator stars Jacob Tremblay, Keegan-Michael Key, Sterling K. Brown, Olivia Munn, Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Edward James Olmos, Jake Busey, Alfie Allen and Yvonne Strahovski. The film hits theaters on September 14.
