Fans want it. So, why is Warner Bros not moving forward with one of the best-received films in their catalog, Man of Steel 2? The assumption is that if an announcement will happen, it’s going to be at the Warner Brothers Pictures Comic-Con presentation next Saturday in San Diego.
Stars Henry Cavill and Laurence Fishburne are prepared to return for Man of Steel 2 if needed, so what is the holdup? Is the film going to happen at all?
According to Henry Cavill, he will stick with the role of Superman for Man of Steel 2 and in the future. In an interview with beyondSquare Mile, Cavill says that he has a storyline from the comics that he would like to adapt. The storyline he is referring to is Superman for Tomorrow:
“I would definitely like to tell a story like that. There’s an opportunity to keep on telling Superman stories, and getting them exactly right. Showing the things like hope and joy and that wonderful power of his to make people believe in themselves.
Fishburne says he is unsure of Perry White’s future in the DCEU post-Justice League. In an interview with Den of Geek, he says:
“I don’t think I’m still on call. I was, unfortunately, unable to go do some work on what turned out to be the Justice League movie. Don’t know that I need to go back or if they’ll have me back or not, but I was grateful to have been a part of it. Loved working with Zack, I think he makes an incredible superhero movie. I’m just excited to be a part of [Ant-Man] now.”
There is no word about what news Warner Bros. is planning on announcing at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. WB should release the first Aquaman trailer, but anything beyond that is unknown at the moment.
