Review – Millarworld’s ‘Nemesis Reloaded #3’

Nemesis Reloaded #3 is the next issue in the soft reboot of Millarworld’s infamous villain. Mark Millar writes it while the art is from Jorge Jiménez. Nemesis is a wealthy supervillain who can be seen as an evil Batman. However, he’s so much more than just that. He is sadistic, cunning and the last person you’d want to meet.

In the previous issue, we delve deeper into Nemesis’ past. It’s almost a mirror of Bruce Wayne except Matthew’s parents were evil and it makes him the same. He’s trained into a weapon of mass destruction. Meanwhile, in the present, his bounty on the police ramps up. Anyone and everyone are murdering for money. His display of power doesn’t stop there as he kidnaps the Chief of Police and that’s where our story continues.

Nemesis Reloaded #3 opens with what happens next. The citizens are losing faith in the mayor. He senses a pattern in the killings but nobody listens. Moreover, Nemesis shows why he’s the world’s greatest supervillain. The issue also delves further into how he became the inhumane person he is. It only gets worse from here.

This is obviously ramping up to an epic finale. You can see this in how each issue has improved on the last. Jorge Jiménez’s art continues to be impressive. The red coating of specific panels when Nemesis attacks emphasises his brutality. Thankfully, Jorge isn’t afraid to push the limits of how far the brutality goes, creating a perfect synergy with Mark Millar’s script.

Nemesis Reloaded #3 hits stores on Wednesday 15th March 2023.
