The series reportedly follows Clint Barton a.k.a. Hawkeye, as he trains his new protegé, Kate Bishop. In the comics, Bishop eventually replaces Barton as Hawkeye, and all indications say that this ‘passing of the torch’ occurs during the series. Bishop is a fan-favorite younger Marvel character.

Bishop debuted in 2005’s Young Avengers #1, by artist Jim Cheung and Wonder Woman scribe Allan Heinberg. During the series, Clint Barton is dead (Avengers #502), and in #12 Bishop takes the name Hawkeye. She is an amateur athlete, who becomes a superhero by accident.
