“If you have the chance to change your fate, would you?” That’s the question poised in Disney Pixar’s Brave. Voiced by Kelly MacDonald, Princess Merida is sick of having to live a life set out by her parents. Various Clans arrive to compete in a game that will see their champion marry Merida.
However, Merida as other ideas she shows the men up with her own talents and argues with her mother. She meets a witch who gives her a cake, that once is eaten, turns her mother into a bear. The crux of the story is Merida and her mother having to find common ground.
As it’s set in Medieval Scotland the movie explores the Highland aspect of Scotland’s past. Merida is the first Disney princess created by Pixar and the movie is dedicated to Steve Jobs as he died before the film’s release.
Brave is most definitely a movie for all ages, and it’s certainly a great one for families to watch together.
