A recent report says that Westworld and X-Men star James Marsden is set to star in the upcoming Paramount Pictures film Sonic the Hedgehog.
The film will use a combination of live-action and CGI to create a tale about a human police officer who befriends Sonic. The two team-up to take out the evil Dr. Robotnik. The film is based on the SEGA mascot and hit video game character Sonic the Hedgehog.
Marsden’s casting announcement comes in the wake of recent rumors stating that Paul Rudd (Ant-Man and the Wasp, Avengers: Infinity War) is being courted for the lead role. The rumor was shot down earlier today by Paramount Picture reps.
The film will be the first for director Jeff Fowler, and is shooting for a November 15, 2019 release date. Neal H. Moritz will produce the film, with Patrick Casey, Josh Miller, and Oren Uziel currently working on the script.
