‘Mass Effect: Andromeda’ Official CES 2017 Trailer

Mass Effect: Andromeda is one of the most-anticipated games of 2017, and we are a couple of months from the game’s launch date. Yesterday BioWare announced that the game is set for a March 21st launch day. This is great news for fans of the Mass Effect franchise! The fourth game in the franchise will look to reboot the story, and will follow all new heroes and villains. Footage from the game showed up at CES in Las Vegas during the NVIDIA keynote. Check out the new reel below:

The game looks wonderful, and has more of a 3rd-person shooter feel than its predecessors. Mass Effect: Andromeda will take place centuries after the events of the first three games. Just like Mass Effect 3, you will get to choose between a male or female main character, whose father was an N7 like Commander Shephard. Here is the official synopsis of the game:

Mass Effect: Andromeda takes players to the Andromeda galaxy, far beyond the Milky Way, where players will lead the fight for a new home in history territory–where WE are the aliens–opposed by a deadly indigenous race bent on stopping us, […]

Experience the freedom to traverse and explore a planet-dense but seamless open-world galaxy, rich with discovery. Play as the leader of a squad of military-trained explorers in an intense third-person shooter, with deep progression and customization systems.

What adventures await you as you pilot the Pathfinder and explore this brave new galaxy that you have awoken in? Andromeda will allow you to switch classes and profiles mid-game. Last November, Game Informer said,

“If you like throwing gouts of flame, you aren’t restricted to a particular class. Because of Andromeda’s flexible skill system, Ryder can learn any ability, and isn’t locked into a single progression tree. This capability is unique to Ryder as the Pathfinder; other party members fill more traditional roles.”

One fan was displeased with what he saw at CES this year, posting on the Mass Effect subreddit:

“Looked like a lot of skill per category and you can get from all types (combat, biotic, tech). Really not liking the fact that it looks like you only have three abilities ‘equipped’ at any time though. Abilities are always more interesting than shooting a gun not to mention it pretty much eliminates ability focused play styles which used to be the focus of half the classes….”

The skill system has some fans worried, but according to BioWare, we have nothing to worry about.
