Matt Smith’s No Longer In ‘Rise of Skywalker’

In a rather strange turn of events, Matt Smith’s name is not located on the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker website any longer. This isn’t the first time this has happened, but it comes after the reveal that the Emperor’s back.

This led to rumors that Smith might portray a young Emperor Palpatine in flashbacks. The Doctor Who star joined the film in a small, undisclosed role last August. Several notable sites also reported the addition of Smith to the official film’s website.

Back in March, Smith stated that he isn’t appearing in the film at all, and now the official Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker website deleted his name from the cast as well.

Could Smith still be in the film, but Lucasfilm wants to keep internet spoilers from ruining his role?

The updated site cast hosts only three new names to the franchise: Naomi Ackie, Keri Russell and Richard E. Grant. Dominic Monaghan’s name is not on the site, but he’s also in the film.

The big question is whether Smith is secretly still in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, or cut from the film completely.

The Rise of Skywalker is the final film in the new Star Wars trilogy from Disney and Lucasfilm. With Luke Skywalker presumed dead, and Kylo Ren leading the First Order, the fate of the universe lies in the hands of Rey, Finn, and Poe. Will the Rebel Alliance survive the First Order’s onslaught?
