Firefly and Castle star Nathan Fillion joins James Gunn’s first outing with the DCEU, The Suicide Squad. This isn’t Fillion’s first DC franchise, but it is the first one in live-action.
Nathan Fillion’s also no stranger to James Gunn films either, starring in Slither, Super, and voicing a big, blue alien prisoner in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1.
His role remains unknown, but with The Rookie season 2 kicking off filming soon it’s not hard to assume that the role is a small one. Fillion previously voiced Green Lantern in a number of DC animated films.
A number of actors reprise their roles for the sequel, including Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney and Viola Davis. These vets are joined by Idris Elba, David Dastmalchian, Steve Agee, Daniela Melchior, Flula Borg, Storm Reid.
Wrestling star, John Cena is also rumored to star in the film. Charles Roven and Peter Safran produce the film. Production is set for September 23rd, with a potential theatrical release date set for August 6, 2021.
It would be nice to see Nathan Fillion in a large role in the film, but chances are slim that could happen. He’s show that he has the acting chops to lead an ensemble cast, so anything is possible.
