Netflix dropped a bombshell today. The announcement trailer and first photos dropped for Lost in Space, Netflix’s reboot of the classic 1960s television series. The first 10-episode season will drop on the streaming service on April 13. Lost in Space is the inspiration for a lot present day science fiction films and tales. The trailer looks great, and takes the franchise a bit more serious than the original series and 1998 film did.
Check out the announcement trailer for Lost in Space below:
The series, set 30 years in the future, follows the Robinson family as they become one of the families considered for colonization in space. An accident happens, as it will, and their ship is ripped off course to the planet. They must work together to survive life stranded light years from where they should be. The Robinson’s are joined by two additional crew members: the magnetic Dr. Smith (Parker Posey), a master of manipulation, and Don West (Ignacio Serricchio) a contractor who never wanted to join the colony in the first place.
The series looks beautiful, as Netflix continues its barrage of great content, forcing us to choose our binging sessions wisely. How does one ever expect to keep up? A brief sound clip can be heard of the famous robot warning young Will Robinson of impending doom. The voice is haunting, and relays a darker version of the story than fans are used to. Just how dark and gritty the show will go is unknown at this time.
Also starring in the series is Toby Stephens (Black Sails) and Molly Parker (House of Cards) who are John and Maureen Robinson, Max Jenkins as Will, Mina Sundwall as Penny and Taylor Russell as Judy.
