New Information on James Gunn’s ‘Suicide Squad’ Arrives
In David Ayer’s Suicide Squad Floyd Lawton/Deadshot was played by Will Smith. Unfortunately for his fans Smith will not be returning due to scheduling conflicts.
After breaking the news, Justin Kroll (Variety reporter) revealed WB were trying to figure out what to do with the role.
“One item I forgot to add to story, sources say execs are now deciding whether they will recast the role or replace Deadshot with a different character from the DC universe to join the team in sequel.”

While this is disappointing news, a report from Variety suggests Warner Brothers have already found a replacement for Deadshot, and it’s someone from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Idris Elba (Luther) is currently in talks to join the movie as the expert marksman and contract killer.
Given Elba’s growing popularity it seems a great idea for him to take on the role. However, it may be weird for some fans to see him jump from Heimdall in the MCU to Deadshot in the Worlds of DC.
