We still haven’t gotten a good look at Luke Skywalker from Star Wars: The Last Jedi, except for a brief moment of Luke in silhouette leaving a cave. In a new report from Making Star Wars, Luke Skywalker will wear a necklace in the film that sports an interesting feature, a red crystal. More-so, the crystal is something that Kylo Ren desperately wants.
In the report, the necklace is shaped like a “wooden dog whistle,” when seen from a distance. It is believed that the crystal is not just any crystal. It is the Kyber crystal from Darth Vader’s lightsaber. Here is what the report says:
“If Luke Skywalker has the last Darth Vader Kyber crystal, someone like Kylo Ren would really want it. I don’t know why Luke Skywalker doesn’t just destroy it. But he would clearly see that someone as into symbolism as Kylo Ren would be even more of a monster if he possessed it. If it is a story element, will Kylo get it back and stabilize his saber with the power source of his Grandfather’s lightsaber? It doesn’t sound like Kylo is getting it without getting better of Luke Skywalker first though.”
In The Force Awakens, Ren is desperately seeking out Darth Vader artifact. The crystal belonging to Vader’s lightsaber would be logical, but Ren will have to go through Skywalker to get it. Ren’s lightsaber crackles and sputters because the Kyber crystal that is in his saber is cracked. He might be looking to use Vader’s Kyber crystal in his own lightsaber. A previous report stated that Kylo Ren will sport a cape that is closer to his grandfather’s cape. Kylo Ren’s destroyed mask can also be seen in the first trailer for The Last Jedi.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters this December.
