Popcorn Sushi’s Top 12 Horror Films of All-Time

The Amityville Horror, MGM Studios

#12 Friday the 13th (1980)

We start this countdown with a classic. Friday the 13th is a top prospect for those looking for one of the best American Slasher films of all time. Shh-Shh-Shh-Ah-Ah-Ah…. It is a sound that spells impending doom for those who have seen the film, and will imprint itself into the nightmares of those seeing Jason Vorhees for the first time.

This wasn’t the first American Slasher film, but it took a page from Halloween’s playbook. Some feel that no film will ever top Halloween, but there are some that think Friday the 13th did just that. You cannot argue a film franchise that has 6 sequels, and whose name pops up in Hollywood news rumors weekly. Could we see another Friday the 13th film soon? There is no way to know, but I do that the first film in the franchise is a sure bet on this countdown. Friday the 13th made a whole generation not want to go to summer camp ever again.
