Affleck Backtracks on Batman Title Announcement

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Warner Bros.

Earlier this week, Ben Affleck spoke about his solo Dark Knight movie while he was out doing interviews for his upcoming film The Accountant. The big scoop coming from the interview, was that Ben Affleck basically said the working title for the movie is The Batman, for now. It is a title that

It was a title that had been rumored for some time now, and Affleck confirmed the rumors. Or so we thought. Now comes news that Affleck is backing up a bit on the announcement.

Earlier this week, a video interview segment went up with Ben Affleck doing press for next week’s The Accountant. The actor was speaking about his upcoming solo Caped Crusader film and suggested that the working title was The Batman, something that had long been rumored. During a Facebook Live video (via E! Online), Affleck says that the title was his, and that nothing has been settled on yet. He also says that the film is not greenlit yet:

“I mentioned the other day… it’s been around for a long time, but the movie… there is no Batman movie happening yet, we’re still trying to figure it out, you know, get the script and budget and all that stuff. And someone said, ‘what are you calling it?’ and I had said, like, back when we were promoting another movie, I was like ‘we don’t have a name for it, we’re just going with The Batman or Batman movie’, and I said that, and everyone was like ‘Affleck announces the name of his Batman movie.’”

Does this mean that Affleck and Warner Bros. will probably name the next Batman solo film The Batman? Yes, more than likely. Fortunately for them, they now have fan response that will dictate whether this will be the title. According  to Affleck, the Caped Crusader film is not a definite yet, but I think that is a ruse. The Dark Knight is the one thing that Warner Bros. has gotten right.

Do you think that Ben Affleck’s previous statement was an example of him just speaking to early, or is this the actual title of the movie?
