Review – Millarworld’s ‘Big Game #2’

Big Game #2 is the newest issue in the explosive Millarworld crossover. It promises to bring superheroes, assassins, spies, magic users and more together to uncover a deadly secret from the world’s past that will change the course of the future. The story’s by Mark Millar while the art comes from Pepe Larraz.

Be careful of spoilers from other Millarworld comics within the review including the first issue of Big Game. However, spoilers for the latest issue will be kept to a minimum and even then it won’t be specific. The main thing is to go into these issues as blindly as possible.

Big Game #1 sets the stage for what the crossover’s about. Meanwhile, Big Game #2 explores how unchained it’ll truly be. The first issue finished with Edison Crane realising a superhero from the past survived and is ready to create a new team to stop the dark forces behind the scenes.

Big Game #2 opens with Edison wanting proof of how the world used to be. It’s a good thing certain characters exist in this world who may be able to get a first-hand look at the past. Meanwhile, the Ambassadors are searching for their injured comrade. If that isn’t enough to get you excited keep your eyes peeled for more beloved characters. Some of Millarworld’s more popular ‘adapted’ characters may pop up.

There isn’t much else I can say about this issue. Big Game will be a hard one to review due to nearly every page being a spoiler. Currently, the characters seem to be juggled well considering how many of them are still to be seen from several other Millarworld properties. There’s a team-up in this issue that excites me as it’s the two properties that pushed me into Millarworld the most.

As for the art, I can only repeat what I’ve said before. Pepe Larraz’s art is incredible and it’s amazing seeing him bring so many Millarworld characters under the one style. You can see that for yourself soon as it’s only days until issue 2 arrives.

Big Game #2 arrives Wednesday 23rd August 2023.
