Roseanne Barr, an actress/comedian/shock professional, appeared on Rabbi Shumley Boteach’s podcast earlier this week to talk about what happened in the wake of her very public firing by ABC. She also spoke about the spinoff to her hit show Roseanne, The Conners.
The Conners will follow the family in the wake of (what is assumed to be) Roseanne’s death. The network publicly fired Barr in the wake of a racially charged joke she posted on Twitter. Barr claims she was under the influence of medication during the night. ABC felt they had to scrap a highly-successful reunion season for Roseanne.
According to Barr, she will not ‘curse it or bless’ the new spinoff. In a recent interview on Rabbi Shumley Boteach’s podcast (via Deadline), she says she’s not going to pay any attention to The Conners:
“I’m staying away from it. Not wishing bad on anyone and I don’t wish good for my enemies. That’s what I gotta do… I have some mental health issues of depression and stuff. I got to stay in the middle or I’ll go dark and I don’t want to go dark again. I’ve done it – after all, I was married to Tom Arnold. Ha! Ha!”
Barr states that she is already working on another sitcom that is “very funny”, but would say nothing more about it. The big question is whether her Twitter comments were enough for the public to shun Barr.
The last time her name was shrouded in controversy was in 1990 when the actress intentionally butchered the national anthem at a Major League Baseball game.
The Conners hits ABC Network on October 16th.
