Six Shudder Originals to Watch This Halloween

Ruin Me

Ruin Me is directed by Preston DeFrancis. It stars Marcienne Dwyer, Matt Dellaphina and Chris Hill. The movie explores horror tropes through a themed weekend experience while showing the last effects of several types of abuse.

The Shudder synopsis states:

Six strangers sign up for a slasher movie re-enactment, in which they are dropped into the woods and pursued by knife-wielding assassins. But when the body count becomes real, Alexandra must unravel the mystery of who is responsible if she wants to survive the ordeal.

Ruin Me‘s title is exactly what it’ll do to its audience. It is one that requires complete concentration and by the end, you’ll question everything that happened. That’s not to say it’s a bad movie. It’s an intriguing concept that only stops to breathe during the third act.

It also makes you question who you can trust and what’s real and what isn’t. Compared to Monster Party, it isn’t as gory but you should expect some blood.

Moreover, the acting is a hit or miss. Everyone has their good moments, but there are times where the acting comes across as a student film.

Although, this might on the writing rather than the actors. Still, most horror movies have clunky writing and Ruin Me wouldn’t be part of the genre without it.
