It is a plot hole that is just asking for an answer. Why didn’t Nick Fury page Captain Marvel earlier in the MCU? Well, the wait for an answer is over.
With Marvel finding every possible way to show that all of the characters in the MCU actually existed simultaneously, a big question remained on the tips of tongues everywhere.
Why didn’t Fury page Carol Danvers during the Battle of New York or that time that Ultron threatened to destroy the entire planet? It is an interesting question. With such a powerful hero in his back pocket, why wasn’t Carol on the scene eariler?
Did she see his page and just ignore it? Probably not.
In a recent interview with Peter Sciretta of Slash Film, the writer puts Kevin Feige to the fire, and asks him the question everyone wants to know:
Peter: I have my nitpicky question I gotta ask you.
Kevin Feige: I’m ready.
Peter: And I know you probably have an answer for this. Why didn’t Nick Fury not use the pager until Infinity War? Because this big hole opened up in the sky and aliens attacked New York City.
Kevin Feige: Well, I’d say two things. One, she does say it’s gotta be a real emergency, right? Yeah.
Peter: Because that was just a city. I guess that’s not the world.
Kevin Feige: The other thing I’d say is how do you know he never hit it? How do we know he never pushed it before? We’ve never seen him push it before. That doesn’t mean he never did.
Peter: Good answer.
Is it o.k. to say that this answer is very Feige-y? Instead of answering Pete, Feige answers with more questions. Thanks a lot! Will Captain Marvel 2 address this very question?
