There is no denying that fans are psyched to see Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man return in Spider-Man: Homecoming. His appearance in Captain America: Civil War was spot-on as the webslinger. The time for a great Spider-Man movie is now, because Marvel is at the helm. Homecoming is a hit, even before it’s ever been screened, because this is what Marvel brings to the table. It is the perfect formula. Holland pitched an idea to Sony and Marvel on how he could play Spider-Man essentially forever.
Any actor who is as loved as Holland would surly want to hold on to the role forever. If Holland gets things his way, he may do just that. In a recent interview with Empire, Holland stated that he pitched an idea that would keep him in the role for the better part of the next twenty years, which is a great idea:
“Peter Parker is a character we see [in the comic books] as a 15-year-old boy and then as a 35-year-old man. So, I have an idea of what I’d like to do. I’ve pitched it (the idea), and it’s already been taken into the boardroom. It would be really cool if it pans out, because it means I would be Spider-Man for a very long time.”
Holland’s current contract keeps him in the role for Spider-Man: Homecoming, a sequel, Avengers Infinity War, and Avengers 4.
Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, young Peter Parker (Tom Holland) returns home to live with his Aunt May. Under the watchful eye of mentor Tony Stark, Parker starts to embrace his newfound identity as Spider-Man. Peter also tries to return to his normal daily routine, and is distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just a friendly neighborhood superhero. Peter must soon put his powers to the test when the Vulture emerges to threaten everything he holds dear.
Jon Watts directs Spider-Man: Homecoming, which stars Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr.
Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters on July 7.
