The big-screen adaptation of the popular game franchise Uncharted recently lost its director Dan Trachtenberg. The Tom Holland-led film may already have another director in mind.
Holland lobbied for director Travis Knight to join the film after Trachtenberg’s exit. The adaptation takes place years before the games, introducing us to a much younger Nathan Drake, just beginning his career as a treasure hunter.
Writers Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, and Rafe Judkins are working the script. Ari Arad, Charles Roven, and Alex Gartner will produce the film. Shooting begins early next year.
To date, Uncharted sold over 41 million copies. Naughty Dog’s Playstation exclusive game franchise tops the PS exclusives category. Fans wanted Nathan Fillion to portray Drake on-screen, but his age became a factor.
The studio wasn’t interested in adapting the games themselves, rather an origin story.
