Last year, the first images came down of Robert Downey Jr. from the set of Avengers: Infinity War. The images showed Tony Stark sporting a new arc reactor, a device that Iron Man 3 made sure that wasn’t required to keep him alive anymore. Speculation has run wild about why he has the device again, and the consensus seems to be simple, time travel. It is a good guess, but it couldn’t be more wrong.

According to a new report, the arc reactor has a purpose. This reactor isn’t there to keep Tony Stark alive anymore. In the new cover story from Entertainment WeeklyStark’s new armor is the big screen adaptation of the Bleeding Edge armor, which in the comics was a nanotech-driven armor. According to the article, the new suit requires Stark to be hooked up to the arc reactor once again.

The new armor looks great, with rocket thrusters, an arm cannon, and a number of enhancements. The armor is sleek, stylish, and is a great look to face-off against the Mad Titan. The cool thing about the new arc reactor is that it houses the new armor. It is something akin to the way that T’Challa’s upgraded suit is hidden inside of his necklace.

It appears that Robert Downey Jr.’s time in the MCU is drawing to a close. What his ultimate fate in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 will be still remains a mystery.

Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet –Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artifacts to inflict his twisted will on reality. The fate of the planet and existence itself has never been more uncertain as everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment.
