‘Supergirl’ Hangs Up Her Cape After Season Six

Supergirl is one of the many shows in The CW’s Arrowverse. It started off on CBS then found a new home for season 2. Ever since then Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist) has faced challenging foes while teaming-up with her friends from Earth-1.

The series also includes Chyler Leigh, David Harewood, Nicole Maines, Katie McGrath and Jesse Rath. After this upcoming season, fans will have to say goodbye to this cast.

Yes, after six seasons Supergirl is ending. Unfortunately, The Girl of Steel is hanging up her cape but it couldn’t come at a better time for the series star. Melissa and her husband, Chris Wood, are new parents. So, as one adventure ends for them, another super adventure has begun.

As for the other cast members, it’s unclear what will happen there. Characters like Martian Manhunter, Dreamer and Brainiac-5 could easily change to other shows. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow would work well for either of them.

Also, Martian Manhunter is a member of the newly formed Justice League. Could this mean we see him joining Superman & Lois?

Melissa has confirmed the news on Instagram, telling fans:

To say it has been an honor portraying this iconic character would be a massive understatement. Seeing the incredible impact the show has had on young girls around the world has always left me humbled and speechless.

She’s had that impact on me, too. She’s taught me strength I didn’t know I had, to find hope in the darkest of places, and that we are stronger when we’re united. What she stands for pushes all of us to be better. She has changed my life for the better, and I’m forever grateful.

I’m so excited that we get to plan our conclusion to this amazing journey, and I cannot wait for you to see what we have in store. I promise we’re going to make it one helluva final season. ♥️ el mayarah 💪

Hopefully, this isn’t the final time we see Melissa as Kara though. If she survives season 6, there’s always the possibility of a cameo. After all, the Superman & Lois series is starting next year and she can make appearances on there.

Furthermore, it wouldn’t be strange to see Supergirl on The Flash or Batwoman since they’re on the same Earth. This is all thanks to Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Supergirl season 6 airs in 2021.
