FOX’s Secret ‘X-Men’ Television Show Will Features Sentinels

X-Men Last Stand, 20th Century Fox

Fox has its hands full, when it comes to milking every last morsel of goodness out of Marvel’s X-Men franchise. They are trying to establish their own cinematic and television universe outside of the rest of the MCU. There is one name that has been a constant at FOX when it comes to the X-Men, and that is Lauren Shuler Donner. She has overseen every film, and now with the two television spinoffs that are set to hit FOX beginning with Legion and then an unnamed television show.

Legion will hit television screens next month, but any word about the secret project is minimal. It is unknown how much Legion will interact with the X-Men universe. It looks like it will be a while before we see any substantial crossover. The other television show is being produced by Burn Notice creator, and this show will be set in the middle of the X-Men film universe.

In an interview with IGN, Donner talked about the secret show. She said what point in the timeline that this secret show will take place. In doing so, she revealed a bombshell:

“Matt’s is much more a part of just the world in terms of there are mutants, mutants are hated and there are Sentinels — though very different from what we’ve seen before. You feel like you’re here in the X-Men world.

With Legion, we’re our own universe. It gives Noah the freedom to do what he wants to do. Because we play with so many different timelines, and we rebooted and not really rebooted and all that, we felt like, OK, we’re going to throw it out there and hope the fans accept it.

The cinematic universe will not worry about Legion. They will not worry about these TV worlds as all. They will just continue in the way that they have been continuing, and there is some great stuff that we are developing. I can just say it’s going to be new and different, and yet Legion and our other show, we’re not going to get in each other’s way.”

Does this mean that we will see some major X-Men appear in the show, and could we potentially see a full team-up?

“It depends. The feature side comes first, unfortunately, because it’s established. They’re our characters, so they come first, and as we decide feature world where we’re going, there are certain characters we know we won’t get into or if we do get into, it’s OK to have them have an appearance.”

There is no word when we will see this ‘secret’ television project, but it looks to be an exciting concept.
