2nd Trailer for ‘Tomb Raider’ Reboot Is All About Family

Tomb Raider, MGM Studios

The newest trailer for the Tomb Raider reboot delves deeper into Laura Croft’s motivations and her Dad’s legacy. It goes into depth showing us what has been added beyond the game, and proves that this isn’t an invincible Laura anymore. A lot of this film seems to be inspired by the rebooted game series, in more ways than just the title. The trailer takes a few scenes directly from the games.

Check out the second official trailer below:

This trailer is full of amazing action, and Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina) looks great as a young Laura Croft. This trailer is all about her relationship with her father (Dominic West). She must continue on the crusade that he started. Walter Goggins’ Mathias Vogel (the film’s villain) has a past with Daddy Croft. He and Laura cross paths as she is trying to find out what happened to her father.

Now she is actively trying to solve the riddle of her fathers’ disappearance. Judging by Vogel’s reaction to Laura’s sudden appearance, she might be on the right trail.

This trailer is full of action, and some brutal scenes straight come straight from the game. This film looks like a very faithful adaptation of the game.

Check out the official synopsis below:

Lara Croft is the fiercely independent daughter of an eccentric adventurer who vanished when she was scarcely a teen. Now a young woman of 21 without any real focus or purpose, Lara navigates the chaotic streets of trendy East London as a bike courier, barely making the rent, and takes college courses, rarely making it to class. She is determined to forge her own path. She also refuses to take the reins of her father’s global empire just as staunchly as she rejects the idea that he’s truly gone.

Advised to face the facts and move forward after seven years without him, even Lara can’t understand what drives her to finally solve the puzzle of his mysterious death. Going explicitly against his final wishes, she leaves everything she knows behind in search of her dad’s last-known destination: a fabled tomb on a mythical island that might be somewhere off the coast of Japan. But her mission will not be an easy one; just reaching the island will be extremely treacherous. Suddenly, the stakes couldn’t …

Tomb Raider hits theaters March 16.
