‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Villains Explained: Who Could Face Tom Holland’s Peter Parker?

Marvel Studios has revealed very little about Spider-Man: Brand New Day. That has not stopped fans from piecing together clues. Casting announcements, industry reports, and set rumors continue to fuel speculation. As a result, several Marvel villains have emerged as likely candidates to challenge Tom Holland’s Peter Parker.

The strongest rumors point toward Mister Negative. The villain became a fan favorite through Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man games. However, comic readers have known Martin Li for years. He operates as both a respected businessman and a dangerous crime boss. His Darkforce abilities make him one of Spider-Man’s most unique enemies.

More importantly, his dual identity creates emotional conflicts as well as physical ones. If Marvel introduces Mister Negative, he could become one of the MCU’s most compelling villains.

Scorpion already appears in the trailer. Marvel already introduced Mac Gargan during Spider-Man: Homecoming. Michael Mando portrayed the criminal after Spider-Man helped send him to prison. The post-credit scene hinted that Gargan wanted revenge. Fans have waited years for that storyline to continue. Brand New Day finally transforms him into the armored Scorpion from the comics.

Street-level crime also appears to be a major focus. That possibility makes Tombstone an attractive choice for Marvel. Lonnie Lincoln rules New York’s underworld through intimidation and brute strength. His nearly indestructible skin allows him to overpower most opponents. Rather than relying on world-ending stakes, Tombstone would pull Spider-Man back into neighborhood crime fighting.

That direction fits Peter Parker’s new life after Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Boomerang has also appeared in several fan discussions, and the trailers finally revealed his appearance. Fred Myers lacks the fame of Spider-Man’s biggest villains, but he offers something different. His trick weapons and unpredictable personality create entertaining action sequences. Marvel could easily use him as a secondary antagonist while developing a larger criminal conspiracy.

One of the biggest surprises involves the Savage Hulk. Several reports suggest Bruce Banner could appear in the film. Marvel has not confirmed those rumors. Even if Hulk appears, he may not serve as the movie’s primary villain. Superhero misunderstandings often create memorable battles before larger threats emerge. A Spider-Man and Savage Hulk fight would certainly excite audiences before the story shifts toward its central conflict.

Other familiar names continue to circulate online. The Chameleon remains a popular prediction because of his deception skills. Hobgoblin also appears in countless fan theories due to Ned showing up in this film after No Way Home gave Peter a way to move on from his friends. Black Cat has received attention as well. Although she often walks the line between hero and villain, her arrival would add another layer to Peter Parker’s complicated personal life.

Marvel has good reason to avoid filling the movie with too many enemies. Previous Spider-Man films struggled when they introduced several villains at once. A smaller cast would allow audiences to connect with each character. It would also give Peter Parker room to grow after sacrificing his identity to save the multiverse. He now lives alone, anonymous, and without the people who once defined his life.

For now, Marvel has not officially revealed the film’s main villain. Most discussions rely on leaks, reports, and educated guesses rather than confirmed information. That will likely change once the first trailer arrives.

Until then, fans can only speculate. Whether Peter Parker battles Mister Negative, Scorpion, Tombstone, or another surprise villain, Spider-Man: Brand New Day appears ready to return the character to his street-level roots. That may be exactly what the franchise needs after the multiverse spectacle of No Way Home.
