Paramount Pictures drop the first motion poster for SEGA’s live-action Sonic the Hedgehog adaptation of the classic gaming franchise.

The film will take a different approach with the character than you would expect. This time around Sonic is live-action, and with his shift comes a number of visual changes. The film follows Sonic as he battles the evil Doctor Robotnik, who is intent on assembling the Chaos Emeralds in the real world.

The film comes from the same people that brought you Fast and Furious and Deadpool! Check out the official motion movie poster below:

In an interview with IGN, Executive producer Tim Miller talks about the things that were done for this film. According to Miller, the production team:

“Opted to go for a more realistic take on Sonic than the more cartoony version we’ve seen in the past. I don’t think SEGA was entirely happy with the eye decision, but these sorts of things you go, ‘It’s going to look weird if we don’t do this.’

But everything is a discussion, and that’s kind of the goal, which is to only change what’s necessary and stay true to the rest of it. He’s not going to feel like a Pixar character would because I don’t think that’s the right aesthetic to make it feel like part of our world.”
