Blumhouse Productions (The Conjuring) and Mattel Films partner up to develop a film based on the classic fortune-telling toy Magic 8-Ball.
Director Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2, Truth or Dare) will write and direct, along with collaborators Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach.
A magic 8-Ball is a unique child’s toy. It’s designed to help one find answers to yes or no questions.

Inside of the black plastic ball/ hollow shell is a 20-sided die with a short message on each side. There are ten affirmative, five negative, and five non-committal messages. You read the messages through a small round clear window on the bottom. The inside of the ball’s full of blue colored alcohol.
Magic 8-Ball marks the first time that Mattel Films will partner with an independent studio. Universal (2006) and Paramount (2010) previously were attached to the project.

Mattel Films is going all-in on their franchises, with features in development based on Hot Wheels, Barbie, Masters of the Universe, American Girl, and View-Master.
There’s no details on the film at the moment, but check back regularly for updates as they drop.
